Dr. des Helen Shiner
Sensitive, close readings of your texts: whether high-quality, museum-standard or academic publications, lectures, or research materials
I have over 30 years’ experience as an arts and academic translator (German-English and French-English), which I combine with in-depth, comprehensive knowledge of the arts as a highly qualified art historian. My particular expertise is in European Modernism with a focus on sculpture history and architectural history.
My client base includes international museums and galleries, well-known publishing houses, respected academics from a range of disciplines within the humanities and social sciences, art journalists, and architectural practices.
I translate material from many periods of art history, architectural history, art criticism, art theory, literature, psychology, sociology, philosophy and history. In addition, I regularly translate scholarly sales catalogues for prominent auction houses in the fields of Contemporary Art, Modernist prints and paintings, 19th-century and Old Master paintings, antique glass and porcelain, sculpture of all periods, photography, and Oriental art.
“Deshalb kann ich Ihnen auch schon mitteilen, dass wir mit der Arbeit der Übersetzerin in höchstem Maß zufrieden sind. Zuweilen waren wir gar verblüfft. […] mit einem ausdrücklichem Lob für die außergewöhnliche Arbeit der Übersetzerin.”
